Rachel Rose is a cis gay Vancouver-based filmmaker with a history of telling powerful, femme-driven stories inspired by lived experience. She is passionate about the role of film in shifting perspectives and inspiring action, and is committed to creating opportunities for underrepresented voices both in front of and behind the camera.

A 2021 VIFF Catalyst alum, Rachel made her directing debut with Tryst (Crazy8s 2021), now streaming on CBC Gem. In 2023, she co-wrote and directed Are You Hungry, which premiered at the Voices With Impact Film Festival. Most recently, she completed post-production on Little Booms — a Canada Council-funded short starring Sarah Desjardins, Sarah Grey, and Jordan Connor — created with the support of the SIM Pride Pitch Sponsorship. Now on the festival circuit, the film is being developed into a feature with support from Creative BC and the Women in the Director’s Chair Story & Leadership program.

In addition to her own projects, Rachel remains committed to supporting other filmmakers as a commercial and narrative 1st Assistant Director.
